The large sculpture is called "Cyklus", erected as part of the celebrations for the 75th birthday of Hvide Sande town. The seven 'ship's prows', representing seven seas, seventh heaven etc, are wood, painted black. There is no natural black out in the sand dunes around Hvide Sande - black is an alien colour to the area, so I have made pictures of Cyklus in other colours.
The colours of the columns in my picture are based on colours in a painting by Edgar Degas (1834-1917) whose paintings captured moments in time, as much as the light and colour that earlier impressionists' focused on, much like photography captures moments. 'Dancers in Repetition' was one of many paintings of dancers by Degas.
